Free Non-Instructed Advocacy Training

Scope's, Voices Through Advocacy (VTA) Project is offering free one day training that:

  • Examines the issues that arise when your advocacy partner does not use spoken language.
  • Examines practical ways of supporting your partner and understanding the richness of alternative methods of communication
  • Explores a practical route to supporting your partner when you are unable to take direct instruction
  • Presents a holistic approach to non instructed advocacy that incorporates the four major techniques currently used by advocates

The training will be useful for:

  • Advocates and advocacy managers who would like to offer advocacy to people who use alternative methods of communication, people who experience significant barriers to communication and people who are unable to directly instruct their advocate.
  • People involved with advocacy provision that are interested in examining the issues that arise when communication between the advocate and their partner become more difficult.
